The Head of Standardization Processing and Marketing of Plantation Products in Jambi Province, Putri Rainun, said that the price of palm shells had not even been discussed at the weekly price-setting meeting.
“There is no discussion of shell prices. Because the price of processed derivatives,” said Putri Rainun via telephone, Tuesday (28/9/2021).
Putri Rainun said that for discussion at the weekly meeting, the focus was more on determining the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) for palm oil.
“We set the price of FFB, later there will be additional if he (the company) sells it,” he said.
“Because what we are asking for is the selling price of CPO and core oil,” he concluded.
One of the exporters of Jambi’s palm shells, who asked to remain anonymous, explained that since the price of palm shells from factories in Jambi province skyrocketed, the perpetrators of shell exporters screamed. This is because the selling price of shells in Japan has relatively not increased.
In fact, a week ago, in Japan’s open tender for palm shell products, Indonesia lost to Malaysia.
“Malaysia low bid. Taxes are also low. So they dared to give a low price to the Japanese side,” said the source, Thursday (30/9/2021).
He hopes that the PKS in Jambi will adjust the selling price of palm shells, so that the product can be sold in the Japanese market.
